West Yorkshire Police are actively searching for Habibur Masum, a 25-year-old suspect believed to be involved in the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old mother in Bradford. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Westgate area, leaving the local community in shock. The victim, a young woman believed to be from Bangladesh, was attacked while pushing her baby in a pram. Despite efforts from local shopkeeper Geo Khan and a passing doctor, she succumbed to her injuries, which included stab wounds to the neck. The baby, approximately four or five months old, was unharmed.
Geo Khan described the victim as a charitable and smiling figure in the community. Masum, described as having an Asian appearance and slim build, has connections to Oldham, Burnley, and Chester. He is considered “very dangerous,” with a nationwide manhunt underway involving all police forces. CCTV footage has been released showing Masum in distinctive clothing, although his current whereabouts remain unknown.
The suspect, reported to be a Bangladeshi national studying digital marketing, is also an aspiring “Primark influencer” with a presence on social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Despite his online persona, police have warned the public not to approach him and to contact authorities immediately if he is spotted.
As the search for Masum continues, West Yorkshire Police have increased their presence in Bradford, urging anyone with information to come forward. Deputy Mayor Alison Lowe assured the community that all efforts are being made to ensure safety and capture the suspect.
In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed at the New Square shopping centre in West Bromwich. The attack occurred on Sunday night, leading to a murder investigation by West Midlands Police. Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison emphasized the tragedy of losing another young life to knife crime and pledged to identify and apprehend those responsible. The shopping centre has been closed for investigation, with increased police patrols in the area to reassure the community.
Authorities are appealing to the public for information on both cases to assist in their investigations.
