Police are intensively searching for Habibur Masum, suspected of murdering Kulsuma Akter in Bradford city centre. The case has prompted a review of bail conditions and police conduct.
Police in Bradford are actively searching for 25-year-old Habibur Masum, suspecting him of the murder of Kulsuma Akter, 27. Prior to the murder, Masum was on bail for allegations of assault and threatening to kill Ms. Akter. Despite denying these charges in court, he was bailed under strict conditions, which included no contact with the victim.
Ms. Akter was found grievously wounded in Bradford’s city centre as she was pushing her baby in a pram. She later died from her injuries. In connection with the murder, a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender, following police raids.
West Yorkshire Police has called for public assistance in locating Masum, described as a slim Asian man. The police believe he is still in the country. Both West Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police are involved in the investigation and have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. This comes in the wake of Ms. Akter’s deadly stabbing, further intensifying scrutiny over Masum’s initial bail conditions and the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident.
