Two separate court cases shed light on violent crimes in the UK, including concealed infant deaths in Wales and a grim dismemberment in London, with trials and sentencing scheduled for 2024.
Egle Zilinskaite, a 30-year-old woman from Wales, has admitted to concealing the births of two babies and preventing their burial following legal protocols. The revelation emerged at Cardiff Crown Court, where details of the infants, known as Baby A and Baby B, indicated they passed away between 2017 and 2022 and were discovered at a residence in Maes-Y-Felin, Wildmill, Bridgend. Zilinskaite’s former partner, Zilvinas Ledovskis, also faced the court, pleading not guilty to related charges. His trial is scheduled for November 25, 2024, while Zilinskaite will face her sentencing on December 5, 2024. Both individuals have been released on conditional bail, with orders to avoid contact and surrender travel documents.
In a separate incident in London, the body of Sarah Mayhew, aged 38, was found in Rowdown Fields, New Addington. Her remains were discovered dismembered, with her limbs and head located near the torso, which is still missing. Gemma Watts, 48, and Steven Sansom, 44, have been arrested and charged with her murder, with suspicions that power tools were used to dismember Mayhew’s body. The exact cause of death has not yet been established. Both suspects are set to appear in court for a plea hearing on June 27, 2024, with a trial planned for February 2022. The Metropolitan Police continue their investigation into this case, focusing on locating Mayhew’s missing torso. Mayhew was last seen alive in Sutton on March 8 before her death.
