O.J. Simpson’s estate faces a legal challenge as the executor, Malcolm LaVergne, seeks to prevent the payment of a $33.5 million judgement. This judgment was awarded to the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman following a wrongful death lawsuit. Since Simpson’s passing, his assets have been placed in a trust, the value of which is undisclosed, and are set to undergo the probate process in a Nevada court.

Decades after the judgement was ordered, Simpson had not settled the majority of the amount due. LaVergne has made clear his opposition to the Goldman family receiving any portion of the estate, specifically criticizing their involvement with Simpson’s controversial book project, “If I Did It.”

Fred Goldman, father of Ronald Goldman, has emphasized that their pursuit of the judgement was more about accountability than financial compensation, expressing that Simpson’s death marks the end of any potential for true accountability.

The continuation of this legal battle could determine if and how the Brown and Goldman families might receive any assets from Simpson’s estate.
