Two men, Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski, aged 68, and Marcin Majerkiewicz, aged 42, have been charged with murder following the discovery of a torso and additional human remains at multiple locations in Greater Manchester. The remains were initially found in a nature reserve earlier this month. The investigation, led by Greater Manchester Police, began when a torso, believed to belong to a local man in his 60s, was uncovered. Subsequent findings of body parts, including buttocks and thigh remains, occurred in areas including Bury and Salford.

The duo appeared at Tameside Magistrates’ Court dressed in prison-issue tracksuits, where they confirmed their names and dates of birth. They are charged with murdering a victim whose identity remains unknown, covering the period from March 25 to April 2. Police are continuing their investigation, with a focus on piecing together the circumstances of the crime and formally identifying the victim.

Assistant Chief Constable Sarah Jackson acknowledged the community’s assistance and emphasized that the investigation is actively ongoing with more searches in Bury and Salford. She mentioned that efforts are being made to fully recover the victim’s remains and reunite them with his family.

Authorities have emphasized the seriousness of the case and are urging anyone with information to come forward as the legal proceedings and investigations continue. The community has been left unsettled by the grim nature of the discovery, with local residents and law enforcement united in seeking justice and resolution.
