On Tuesday in Hainault, East London, 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin was fatally wounded in a sword attack while on his way to school. The Metropolitan Police have since charged Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a dual Spanish-Brazilian national, with Daniel’s murder. He appeared in court on Thursday following the incident.

Daniel’s family has publicly expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their son, describing him as their “most loved and amazing son.” They acknowledged the support from the community and extended condolences to other victims of the attack. The family has also requested privacy during their time of mourning.

Arsenal Football Club, which Daniel supported, paid tribute to him during a Premier League match against Bournemouth. The club displayed his picture on the big screens at the Emirates Stadium and held a minute of applause in the 14th minute of the game. A banner reading “RIP Daniel” was also displayed in the stadium.

The community and Daniel’s school, Bancroft’s, have shown a massive outpouring of support and grief. Floral tributes, handwritten notes, and Arsenal memorabilia have been left at the scene of the tragedy. Bancroft’s described Daniel as a “true scholar” known for his “positive nature and gentle character.”

A fundraising initiative to support Daniel’s family has raised over £100,000, reflecting the significant impact of his loss on the community and the solidarity shown by those touched by the tragedy.
