Debra Robinson, the mother of two Australian surfers, Callum and Jake Robinson, spoke of her profound grief at a tribute event on a San Diego beach, where one of her sons had felt a strong connection. The brothers, along with their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, were killed in late April during a surfing and camping trip in Baja California, Mexico. They went missing on April 27, and their bodies were later discovered in a cliffside well with gunshot wounds to the head.

During the emotional tribute, Debra Robinson recalled the vibrant lives and adventurous spirits of her sons, emphasizing how they integrated their love for surfing into their lives. She highlighted how Jake, a doctor, often chose to work near surfing spots. Speaking at the event, Robinson encouraged others to embrace life passionately in remembrance of her sons.

The authorities have taken action in connection with the murders. A Mexican man has been charged with “forced disappearance” and is expected to face additional charges related to the killings, while two other suspects have also been detained.

The tragic incident has prompted a response from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who expressed his condolences and extended support to the Robinson family during this challenging period.
