The Sinaloa cartel, a significant criminal organization in the area, has claimed responsibility for apprehending the suspects involved in the crime. According to a spokesperson from the cartel, three low-level robbers acting independently were handed over to the police with assistance from the cartel to avoid attracting unwarranted attention.
The suspects, including a woman found in possession of one of the victim’s phones, have been detained. Mexican authorities are pursuing murder charges in this case. Emily Horwath, the girlfriend of Callum Robinson, shared his last voicemail expressing love and positivity on social media, and his mother has paid tribute to the victims, encouraging others to honor their memory by living fully and loving deeply.
