Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is facing a potential legal challenge concerning the logo of her newly announced lifestyle brand, As Ever. The announcement was made on her Instagram account on Tuesday, and it was later confirmed that the brand is scheduled to launch in Spring 2025, as detailed in her follow-up post on Wednesday.

Shortly after unveiling the logo on her newly established website, asever.com, Markle encountered accusations of intellectual property infringement. Critics have suggested that the logo bears a striking resemblance to the coat of arms belonging to the town of Porreres in Majorca. This allegation has prompted Francisca Mora Veny, the mayor of Porreres, to consider legal action against the Duchess for the perceived similarities.

Kinsey Schofield, a royal commentator, elaborated on the situation during her appearance on GB News. “The As Ever landing page is just an email collection web page, which is exactly what American Riviera Orchard has been for almost a year now, so she was clearly unable to get the trademark for American Riviera Orchard,” Schofield explained, referring to Markle’s previous brand efforts. She described the current scenario as a “crisis pivot or a rebrand rescue that we are seeing in real-time” while highlighting the impending launch of a Netflix show featuring Markle set to premiere in two weeks.

As the situation unfolds, further developments regarding the potential legal actions and the brand’s launch are anticipated.
