A mother-of-three from Inverness, Rachael Reid, who won a luxurious six-bedroom bungalow in Surrey through an Omaze prize draw, has put the property up for sale in a bid to realise its value. Rachael, 54, won the impressive home located near Farnham in July last year, after purchasing a ticket for just £10. The property, which includes an indoor heated swimming pool, gym, and is set within 1.4 acres, was initially listed at £2,950,000 in December 2022.

However, on March 25, the listing witnessed a significant price reduction of £200,000, bringing the current asking price down to £2,750,000. The ongoing sale demonstrates a considerable financial boon for both Rachael and her husband Darren, with whom she has shared 30 years of marriage. Following their win, the couple spent several months living in the remarkable estate before deciding to sell it.

Speaking to DevonLive, Rachael reflected on the transformative experience of winning the property, stating, “I still can’t believe it really happened to us – winning a multi-million-pound house in Surrey has changed our lives forever. We’ve really enjoyed spending time at the house – it’s been magical and the whole family has loved it. All the locals have been lovely and welcoming – it’s a fantastic area.” She mentioned that despite the significant winnings, the couple has chosen to relocate closer to family and friends in Scotland.

Rachael highlighted how the financial windfall from both the house and the competition has opened numerous possibilities for her family. “The money from the sale will change everything for the entire family – it’s just incredible – we’re all so excited for the future – we might even build our very own Omazing house!” she expressed. She also encouraged others to consider entering similar competitions, adding, “Entering Omaze was the best decision I ever made – I wish anyone who enters the best of luck, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone!”

The property listing by Savills describes the remarkable bungalow as having been “developed to a very high standard to create a contemporary country home with stylish interiors throughout.” It features an array of luxurious amenities, including a detached pool house equipped with a shower, gym, and sauna, alongside an expansive entrance hallway leading into a drawing room characterised by a vaulted ceiling and views of the garden.

Notable features also include an elegant kitchen and dining area with oak flooring and a central island, a generous living room, a study, and a master suite complete with a seating area and a stunning en-suite bathroom. The outdoor spaces are equally impressive, boasting an al fresco kitchen and beautifully landscaped grounds with a combination of manicured gardens and a secluded wooded area.

The property is positioned in a highly sought-after village location, situated just four miles from Farnham and roughly 8.9 miles from Guildford, making it convenient for commuters. A representative from Omaze remarked on the power of such competitions, stating, “Whatever their circumstances, all Omaze winners have several fantastic life-changing options available to them. Omaze is immensely proud to have created 35 millionaires whilst also raising more than £81 million for good causes in the UK since it launched here.”

Efforts to reach Savills estate agents for comments regarding the recent price adjustment were not successful prior to the publication of this article.
