The Los Angeles residence of supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne suffers severe damage in a blaze, while a separate fire in Sydney, linked to an ebike, prompts safety concerns.
Supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne’s Los Angeles residence was severely damaged in a fire early Friday morning. The blaze required the intervention of nearly 100 firefighters to be extinguished. Delevingne, 31, who is currently in London for a West End production of “Cabaret”, expressed her sadness over the incident on Instagram, particularly grateful that her two cats were saved by the firefighters.
The fire at Delevingne’s home, known for its unique design elements including themed rooms like the “Mad Hatter’s tea party,” resulted in minor injuries for a house sitter and a firefighter who was hospitalized after a fall but are both expected to recover. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
In a separate incident, an ebike equipped with lithium-ion batteries caused a fire in an apartment on the third level of a 10-storey building in Bankstown, Sydney. The event, occurring around 6:30 am, saw a response from 25 firefighters and four fire trucks. All four occupants of the unit were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the ebike ignition is under investigation, highlighting the known risks associated with lithium-ion batteries.
Both incidents underscore the swift responses by firefighters and emergency services in Los Angeles and Sydney, ensuring the safety of those involved and preventing further injuries. Investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of both fires.
