Volunteers at Broughton Community Shop in Hampshire arrived to a grim scene as they found approximately 50 dead hares and two birds, a barn owl and a kestrel, displayed in front of their workplace. This disturbing event, which took place recently in the quiet community, has prompted an investigation by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police. The incident has also caused a wave of emotional responses on various social media platforms.

Mike Hensman, the shop’s treasurer, detailed the traumatic experience, revealing that the deceased animals were not just left in front of the shop but were also impaled on the door handles, creating a shocking display for the staff. The police have taken the remains of the animals into their custody and are currently on the lookout for a silver Suzuki Grand Vitara, believed to be linked to the case due to its presence in the vicinity around the time of the incident.

Despite the horror of their discovery, the staff, supported by the empathy and encouragement from their clientele, has shown resilience. Hensman emphasized the community’s determination to overcome the shock and distress caused by the cruel act and to continue moving forward. The police investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying the individuals responsible for this act.
