Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson were tragically killed during an apparent carjacking attempt in Baja California, Mexico, towards the end of April 2024. Their deaths are believed to have resulted from gunshot wounds amidst an attempted robbery of their truck’s tires. Alongside the Robinsons, their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad was also killed, with their bodies subsequently found in a cliffside well.

The Robinson brothers, known for their passion for surfing and adventurous spirits, were mourned by their parents, Debra and Martin Robinson, who traveled to Mexico to identify and repatriate their sons’ bodies. Debra Robinson, in emotional tributes in San Diego and elsewhere, remembered her sons as embodying vibrant and loving qualities and encouraged others to “live bigger, shine brighter, and love harder” in their memory.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed condolences and pledged support to the Robinson family. The incident has involved the arrest of several suspects, with at least two detained on drug charges.

This tragic incident has highlighted dangers associated with travelling in certain parts of Mexico, and has resonated with communities in both Australia and the United States, profoundly impacting those who knew the victims and the broader public aware of the case.
