Over 300 mourners gathered at a vigil in Hainault, east London, to pay respects to Daniel Anjorin, a 14-year-old victim of a fatal sword attack near his school. The incident occurred while Daniel was on his way to Bancroft’s School, where he was known as a dedicated student and active church participant. The vigil took place at the car park near Hainault Underground station, close to the scene of the attack.
During the commemoration, Arsenal Football Club, which Daniel supported, paid tribute by holding a moment of applause in the 14th minute of their match against Bournemouth. A “RIP Daniel” banner was also displayed by fans.
The suspect, Marcus Arduini Monzo, has been charged with Daniel’s murder among other serious offenses. As the community mourns, the Anjorin family has requested privacy. The collective grief was palpable, with heartfelt messages and emotional speeches at the vigil, underscoring the impact of Daniel’s loss on his community.
