Conor McGregor, the renowned MMA fighter, has emerged as the most tested athlete in 2024 according to the UFC’s anti-doping database, despite not having competed since July 2021 due to a leg injury. This year, McGregor has been subjected to five drug tests, the highest number among fighters, following the UFC’s transition to Drug Free Sport International for its anti-doping program. Other top fighters, such as Alexander Volkanovski and Sean Strickland, have been tested less frequently, with most undergoing one or two tests.

McGregor, who is aiming for a comeback during International Fight Week in June, expressed his eagerness to return to the Octagon and mentioned a potential fight with Michael Chandler, which had been announced over a year ago. UFC president Dana White, however, has remained non-committal about the specifics of McGregor’s return. Despite the uncertainty, McGregor has been actively training, although he admits the lack of a confirmed fight date has at times dampened his motivation.

Outside of mixed martial arts, McGregor has ventured into acting, making his debut in the remake of the 1989 action film “Road House,” starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. The Amazon Prime production marks McGregor’s first significant acting role, although after the experience, he has indicated a lack of interest in pursuing further acting projects. McGregor highlighted the challenges of acting and expressed a renewed focus on his fighting career.

As he recovers from his injury and continues his training, McGregor is focused on securing a definite date for his UFC return. With two fights left on his contract, the athlete is hopeful for a fight on 29 June, provided arrangements can be solidified, allowing him adequate preparation time. Fans and observers alike are keenly watching to see when and how McGregor will make his anticipated comeback in the UFC ring.
