In a violent home invasion in Hainault, East London, a family was attacked by an intruder wielding a samurai sword. The attack occurred in May 2024 and resulted in serious injuries for 35-year-old Henry De Los Rios Polania, who sustained significant damage to his hands and fingers while attempting to defend his family. Tragically, the incident also led to the death of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin.

Henry De Los Rios Polania, the father of the family, described using pillows and teddy bears as makeshift shields in a desperate bid to protect his loved ones during the attack. The assailant, identified as Marcus Arduini Monzo, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and aggravated burglary. His trial is scheduled for February of the following year.

Following the incident, the local community in Hainault has come together to support the victim’s family, raising funds to aid in their recovery. Henry De Los Rios Polania faces a long recovery journey, with nearly 10 hours of initial surgery required for his injuries.
