Emergency services responded to a situation involving a woman on the roof of a building in Kingswood, Bristol, yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, March 4. The incident unfolded on Soundwell Road, prompting a significant response from police, firefighters, and paramedics.

During the course of the incident, which led to the closure of Soundwell Road between Crownleaze and Gladstone Street, emergency teams worked to ensure the woman’s safety. The road remained closed until approximately 8.15pm when the situation was resolved, and the woman was safely brought down from the roof.

Following the resolution of the incident, Avon and Somerset Police provided an update indicating that the woman was detained for her own safety. They stated that she was brought down and detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, which allows for the temporary detention of individuals who may be experiencing mental health crises.

The police’s response to the situation highlighted the collaboration among various emergency services, which was crucial in managing the incident. They had previously advised that the road closure was a precautionary measure while attending to the unfolding emergency.
