All Eurostar services have been suspended at Gare du Nord in Paris due to the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb on the railway tracks. The bomb was unearthed overnight during construction work in St Denis, a suburb of Paris.

The suspension of services affects all RER, regional, TGV, and Eurostar train operations, which are expected to remain halted until at least 10 AM local time. Reports from local media indicate that delays of up to two hours are likely as a result of the situation.

Since approximately 6 AM, a bomb squad has been on-site conducting assessments and managing the situation. The French national railway company, SNCF, is overseeing the response and has provided reassurance that safety measures are being followed diligently.

Passengers planning to use Eurostar services have been informed via the Eurostar website that adjustments to travel plans are necessary. The message states: “Due to an object on the tracks near Paris Gare du Nord, we are expecting disruption to our services this morning. Please change your journey for a different date of travel. You can exchange your ticket for free to travel at a different time or date in the same travel class. This is subject to availability.”

Travelers have been advised to check the Eurostar website or the Eurostar app for the latest updates on the situation as it develops.
