A family, including a two-year-old girl, survived a plane crash with minimal injuries in California, thanks to the deployment of the aircraft’s parachute system. The single-engine plane, having lost power, descended safely into trees near Whitethorn, California, shortly after taking off from Shelter Cove Airport. The incident, which resulted in the aircraft being destroyed but left passengers with only minor injuries, took place approximately five minutes into the flight. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office referred to the outcome as miraculous, given the potential for severe casualties in such accidents. The Federal Aviation Administration alongside the National Transportation Safety Board has taken up the investigation of the crash. This event marks the second instance within two years where the Shelter Cove Fire Department has attended a small plane crash, with both incidents fortunately resulting in only minor injuries and no fatalities. This contrasts sharply with a recent tragic crash in Virginia, where five people died after a small private jet crashed and caught fire.
