Staffordshire Police are conducting an investigation following the discovery of human skeletal remains at Festival Park in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday, March 2. The remains were found by a passer-by near a supermarket, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.

Upon arrival, officers cordoned off the area around the footpath and set up several blue forensic tents in order to facilitate a thorough investigation of the scene. Currently, the identity of the deceased, as well as details regarding the age and sex, have yet to be established. However, Staffordshire Police are actively reviewing missing persons records, focusing their attention on a few names that may be relevant to the investigation.

In a statement from the police force, it was confirmed that they are treating the case as an unexplained death. A spokesman for the police noted, “Our investigation is ongoing and we’re working hard to progress a number of inquiries to help us identify the remains and how they ended up there.” Forensic officers have been seen regularly entering and exiting the large blue tents, suggesting intensive examination of the remains is underway.

The police have also appealed to the public for any witness information, encouraging anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the area to come forward. Individuals with information can reach out to the police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 397 of March 2, or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

In a separate incident, Thames Valley Police are investigating an exposure that took place on the evening of February 21 on an X2 bus travelling on the A34 towards Redbridge Park and Ride. An unidentified male was reported to have engaged in inappropriate behaviour in front of a woman in her 20s.

On March 6, police released an image of a person they wish to speak to in connection with the incident. Investigating staff officer Susan Glass stated, “We are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward.” She noted that any mobile phone footage or additional information would be valuable to their investigation. The police have assured the public that all reports of exposure offences are taken seriously, urging witnesses to contact them immediately if they find themselves in a similar situation. Information can be reported through the same channels as mentioned in the earlier incident, quoting reference number 43250089158. Additionally, anonymity can be maintained by contacting Crimestoppers.
