Jonathan Majors, the actor celebrated for his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been sentenced to one year of domestic violence intervention after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, British choreographer Grace Jabbari. The incident, which took place in New York City in March 2023, led to Major’s dismissal from Marvel Studios. Judge Michael Gaffey decided against jail time for Majors, opting instead for a 52-week domestic violence program to be completed in Los Angeles, a $250 surcharge, adherence to a protective order in favor of Jabbari, and the continuation of mental health therapy.

The assault, captured on surveillance footage, involved Majors shoving and dragging Jabbari on a sidewalk. Court testimonies revealed that Majors attempted to dissuade Jabbari from seeking medical attention through text messages, with Jabbari expressing feelings of fear and isolation. The trial highlighted the dynamics of domestic abuse within their relationship, with evidence of physical and emotional harm inflicted on Jabbari.

Despite Majors’ conviction and the subsequent setback in his career, including the termination of his roles with Marvel, the actor remains hopeful about his future in the industry. He has been supported by his current girlfriend, Meagan Good, throughout the trial. Majors’ legal team announced plans to appeal the conviction, advocating for his participation in the domestic violence program to be conducted remotely to accommodate his work commitments.

The case has stirred public and media attention, underlining serious issues related to domestic violence and the personal conduct of individuals in the entertainment industry. Jonathan Majors aims to fulfill the conditions of his sentencing as he navigates the repercussions of his actions.
