A new closure on the M25 is set to disrupt traffic with a seven-mile section between junctions 9 and 10 closing from May 10 to May 13, 2024. The closure is due to the installation of a 16-tonne bridge as part of the Junction 10 improvement scheme aimed at enhancing lane capacity and safety. During this period, motorists will be diverted onto a 19-mile alternative route via the A3 and A243. National Highways has alerted drivers to expect significant delays and recommends minimising travel if possible.

This is a continuation of efforts to improve the M25, with previous disruptions noted in March. Although similar conditions are anticipated, no subsequent closures are scheduled for June; however, three additional closures are projected from July through the end of 2024.

In London, transport issues also affected the Bakerloo and District Underground lines due to a signalling fault at Euston station, leading to severe delays. National Rail indicated that disruptions could continue until later in the evening affecting various services including Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway. Additional delays occurred due to a fire near the tracks between Guildford and London Waterloo, and a police incident at Birmingham International, which impacted rail services with up to 50-minute delays.

Passengers using affected routes, especially those travelling from Euston, have been advised to check updated travel information due to potential lasting impacts from the day’s disruptions.
