Habibur Masum, a 25-year-old from Burnley, has been charged with the murder of 27-year-old Kulsuma Akter and possession of a bladed article following a tragic incident in Bradford, where Ms. Akter was fatally stabbed while pushing her baby in a pram. The attack occurred in the city centre, and despite being rushed to the hospital, Ms. Akter succumbed to her injuries. The baby was fortunately unharmed.

Masum, who was known to the victim, made a court appearance at Bradford Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He confirmed only his name, age, and address during the procedure and is scheduled to appear at Bradford Crown Court. The arrest followed an extensive three-day manhunt which concluded in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

In a related development, police have arrested four men in Aylesbury on suspicion of assisting an offender and drug offenses. They remain in custody. Another individual, a 23-year-old man arrested in Cheshire, has been released on bail.

The West Yorkshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior interactions with Ms. Akter, indicating an investigation into the police handling of the case.

The local community and family members expressed their devastation and grief following the incident, leaving floral tributes at the scene and sharing condolences. The case has attracted significant attention, prompting calls for a fair and just legal process.
