A man in his twenties suffered severe injuries and two vans were torched in an incident in Bushmills, with paramilitary involvement suspected. Local leaders and police call for public assistance in solving the case.
In a distressing incident in Bushmills, County Antrim, a man in his twenties was found with his hands nailed to a fence in Dundarave Park during the early hours of Sunday. According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the man, who also suffered injuries to his nose, was taken to the hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition with non-life-threatening but potentially life-changing injuries.
Additionally, two vans were set ablaze in the car park, one of which belonged to the victim. Graffiti linked to this violent assault and arson was discovered on a nearby public toilets building. The PSNI is exploring the possibility of paramilitary involvement in the attack, and Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton described the violence as having “levels of, almost, ultra violence.”
Local and regional leaders, including Alliance MLA Sian Mulholland and TUV leader Jim Allister, have strongly condemned the attack, underscoring the need for community solidarity and justice. The authorities have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation into this brutal assault that shocked the community and tourists in Bushmills, an area known for its tourist attractions.
