The Metropolitan Police is conducting a renewed investigation into the decision to charge the late TV presenter Caroline Flack with assault by beating, following the emergence of new witness evidence. Initially, the Crown Prosecession Service (CPS) had recommended a caution, but this advice was overridden by the Met Police, leading to charges being filed against Flack. The presenter died in 2020.

Caroline Flack’s mother, Christine Flack, has been vocal in seeking clarity over the circumstances surrounding the police and CPS’s handling of the case, particularly pointing out issues concerning the documentation at the police station.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has directed the Met Police to examine the rationale behind the officers’ decision to not follow the initial CPS recommendation.

Amidst these investigative developments, Caroline Flack’s enduring influence in the entertainment sector is celebrated. British singer Olly Murs is scheduled to perform at Flackstock, an event organised in Flack’s memory. The festival aims to fundraise for charities, commemorating Flack’s legacy with performances from various prominent artists.
