Sandra Doorley, District Attorney of Monroe County, was filmed having a confrontational encounter with a police officer after being stopped for speeding, leading to investigations by state authorities.
Sandra Doorley, the District Attorney of Monroe County in New York, was caught on bodycam footage having a heated argument with a police officer after being pulled over for speeding. The footage recorded on April 22 shows the district attorney swearing at the officer and dismissing his requests. Doorley, who was reportedly driving at 55mph in a 35mph zone, was confronted at her residence after apparently attempting to evade the police.
During the incident, Doorley referred to the officer using derogatory language and phoned the Webster police chief, seeking intervention. Despite initial resistance, she accepted the speeding ticket and pleaded guilty on the following day, subsequently issuing a video apology. In her apology, she cited a stressful day at work as the reason for her conduct.
In response to the occurrence, the Rochester City Council has prompted an investigation by New York State Attorney General Letitia James. Meanwhile, Governor Kathy Hochul has directed the case to the state Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct, highlighting concerns about Doorley’s capacity to enforce accountability.
