Several incidents have caused disruptions on major roads and motorways across England, affecting numerous commuters and travellers. Early on a Monday morning, the M4 eastbound near Heathrow Airport in west London was temporarily closed due to a police investigation at Junction 3. Although the road was reopened by 8:15 am, delays continued for a period afterwards. In a separate event, the M3 near Winchester, Hampshire, experienced a shutdown caused by a collision, resulting in delays of up to 45 minutes for drivers. Moreover, a collision between a lorry and a car within roadworks on the M1 near Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire, led to increasing delays northbound at Junction 13.

Additionally, the A1(M) northbound between Stevenage and Welwyn was closed due to a multi-vehicle crash that caused an oil spill and damage to barriers. The incident, which took place on a Sunday evening, was resolved by midnight after emergency services addressed the situation.

In Walthamstow, a significant accident required medical treatment for four individuals and led to the diversion of nine bus routes. Delays were also reported on the Bakerloo and Central Tube lines, with the Victoria line experiencing severe disruptions. However, the Metropolitan line returned to good service following earlier delays.

As the Easter holiday period approached, the RAC warned of over 14 million getaway trips, potentially doubling journey times due to anticipated heavy traffic and rail travel impacts from engineering work on the West Coast Main Line.

National Highways and police forces worked efficiently to manage and resolve these incidents, ensuring roads were reopened and traffic flow gradually returned to normal. Authorities have stressed the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to follow the instructions of emergency services during such disruptions.
