Namibian sprinter Christine Mboma is set to return to athletics after a 20-month hiatus. Mboma, who earned a silver medal in the 200m event at the Tokyo Olympics, has been sidelined due to regulations targeting female athletes with differences in sexual development (DSD), which affect testosterone levels. She last competed at the Commonwealth Games in 2022. The 20-year-old sprinter is scheduled to participate in the 100m race at the Kip Keino Classic in Kenya on April 20.

Mboma has faced significant regulatory challenges that impacted her ability to compete, notably missing the World Championships in the previous year. Henk Botha, her coach, expressed his surprise over the regulatory changes. Prior to her compulsory break, Mboma had a celebrated athletic profile, including winning gold at the 2021 World Under-20 Championships and her notable performance at the 2020 Olympics. Her return to the track is highly anticipated by supporters and the athletic community.
