Demonstrators advocating for Palestine caused significant disruptions at Chicago O’Hare and San Francisco airports, calling for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators recently disrupted travel to Chicago O’Hare International Airport by blocking a freeway leading to the airport terminals. This incident occurred as part of a wider “economic blockade to free Palestine” initiative, demanding an immediate ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has led to significant casualties in Gaza.
The blockade caused substantial inconvenience for travellers, some of whom were forced to walk to the airport with their luggage. Despite the disruption, airport operations continued with minimal delays, and normal traffic flow was restored after a few hours.
Similar demonstrations also took place in the San Francisco Bay Area. Activists there closed down the Golden Gate Bridge and a section of Interstate 880 in Oakland, creating traffic disruptions in multiple locations. Arrests were made in Chicago and California as authorities responded to the protests and cleared the obstructions.
These events unfolded against the backdrop of ongoing violence in the Middle East, highlighting the global scale of the protests connected to the conflict.
