Four teenagers have been apprehended following an incident that occurred at a grocery store in Sunderland on Thursday afternoon. Authorities were alerted to a disturbance outside the Spar store located on Chester Road, leading to a significant police response.

As officials arrived at the scene shortly before 4 PM, it was confirmed that an altercation was taking place, which resulted in damage to the storefront. Four individuals, all reported to be teenagers, were arrested on suspicion of affray and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Despite circulating misinformation on social media alleging a stabbing and that an individual was in critical condition, Northumbria Police clarified that no stabbing had occurred. A representative from the police force informed ChronicleLive that while one person did sustain injuries from going through the window of the Spar, it was not life-threatening, and they were only briefly taken to hospital for treatment.

The police spokesperson elaborated, stating, “Just before 4pm yesterday, we responded to a report of a disturbance outside a premises on Chester Road, Sunderland. Officers attended the scene and found an altercation ongoing which had also caused damage to the premises.”
