An estimated 6,000 bikers participated in the event, significantly exceeding the expected turnout of 3,000. The convoy, which took place following Myers’ passing at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer, rode through various Yorkshire towns and villages, culminating in Scarborough.
Si King, Myers’ co-presenter and fellow Hairy Biker, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the motorcycling community for their overwhelming support. King shared his appreciation on social media, noting the sense of solidarity and love demonstrated by the participants, and highlighting the comfort it provided to Myers’ wife, family, and friends.
Dave Myers, born in Barrow-in-Furness, was a renowned TV personality and chef who, alongside King, became famous for their motorcycle travels and culinary adventures. The duo, known as the Hairy Bikers, entertained audiences with their series on BBC Two, including their last series, “The Hairy Bikers Go West,” which continued to air after Myers’ death. They also authored numerous cookbooks and participated in various TV and public engagements, such as Strictly Come Dancing.
