Law enforcement intensifies scrutiny of the Gilgo Beach murder cases following the arrest of Rex Heuermann, broadening the investigation to include areas in Manorville.
State and local law enforcement have intensified their investigation into the Gilgo Beach murders, following up with a recent operation in the Manorville area of Long Island. This development emerges subsequent to the arrest of Rex Heuermann, a 60-year-old Manhattan architect, who faces multiple charges linked to the deaths of four women whose bodies were found near Gilgo Beach in 2010. These victims, identified as Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, and Amber Costello, are collectively referred to as the “Gilgo Four.”
The sequence of events leading to Heuermann’s charges began with the discovery of the women’s remains over a decade ago along Ocean Parkway in the Gilgo Beach area, sparking an extensive search that revealed additional victims. Following his arrest, Heuermann has pled not guilty and is currently awaiting trial.
In light of these charges, law enforcement has expanded its scope to include Manorville, where the remains of two other women, Valerie Mack and Jessica Taylor, had previously been found. This ongoing investigation aims to resolve lingering mysteries surrounding these linked cases.
