Susan Goose, a 63-year-old from Norwich, has been imprisoned for six years after admitting to a series of frauds where she swindled nearly £440,000 from unsuspecting victims she met in pubs.
Susan Goose, a 63-year-old woman from Norwich, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of fraud by false representation. Goose deceived victims, whom she met in various pubs, into giving her nearly £440,000 by falsely claiming she needed the money for legal fees to access an inheritance. She supported her claims with counterfeit documents and purported communications from a solicitor and a bank.
The consequences of her fraud were significant, with one victim losing their home and having to enter into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement due to the financial strain. Throughout the legal proceedings, Goose exhibited no remorse and it was discovered that she had used over £130,000 of the stolen funds for online gambling.
The case was investigated by DC Dave Block, who highlighted the considerable breach of trust involved and praised the victims for their courage in supporting the prosecution. Goose’s conviction aims to provide closure to those affected, as they work to recover from the financial and emotional impact of her actions.
