In an attempt to fortify their home-court advantage, the Philadelphia 76ers distributed over 2,000 tickets to community members for Game 6 of their NBA playoff series, but still lost to the New York Knicks, who now advance to the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
The Philadelphia 76ers took steps to strengthen their home-court advantage during Game 6 of their NBA playoff series against the New York Knicks by having team owners and former minority owners purchase over 2,000 tickets. These tickets were distributed to Philadelphia community members, including first responders and healthcare professionals, in an effort to counteract the significant presence of Knicks fans seen during Game 4 at Wells Fargo Arena. The initiative followed comments from 76ers star Joel Embiid, who expressed concerns over the fan atmosphere favouring the Knicks.
Despite these efforts, the Knicks defeated the 76ers 118-115 in a tense Game 6, thereby securing their progression to the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Knicks player Jalen Brunson was prominent, scoring 41 points with 12 assists. Josh Hart also played a crucial role, making a pivotal three-pointer towards the end of the game. The Knicks now prepare to face the Indiana Pacers in the semi-finals, marking their first consecutive second-round appearance since the late 1990s. The first game of this upcoming series is set to be held in New York.
