The UK is set to experience a mix of weather conditions in the coming days, with forecasts indicating both potential rainfalls and notably higher temperatures. According to the Met Office, heavy showers and rain are expected this May Bank Holiday weekend, particularly affecting central England, the Midlands, East Anglia, Wales, and parts of south-east England starting Saturday. Despite the gloomy outlook for the weekend, temperatures are forecasted to reach up to 12 degrees Celsius during the day and drop to around eight degrees overnight.

Conversely, new weather maps from WX Charts have predicted a significant rise in temperatures on Thursday, May 9, with some parts of the UK anticipated to be warmer than popular European destinations like Athens and Istanbul. Leeds, the Cotswolds, and London could see temperatures as high as 20 degrees Celsius. This warm spell is attributed to high pressure and warm southeasterly winds.

Meteorologist Jim Dale noted that during the weekend following the May Bank Holiday, the UK could experience a three-day mini heatwave, with the southeast potentially reaching up to 23 degrees Celsius. This brief period of warmth, resulting from warm air moving from central Europe and Southern France, is expected to provide sunny conditions, although it falls short of official heatwave criteria.

Despite the imminent rainy weather during the holiday weekend, the outlook for the following week seems more promising with a potential for drier and warmer weather. Weather reports suggest varying conditions across the country, urging residents to stay updated through local forecasts as weather patterns remain uncertain due to erratic jet stream movements.
